Bassa/Jos North bye election: Abbey wins APC's ticked, Kwande writes National.

Hon. Abbey Joseph Aku has on Friday emerged winner of the All Progressive Congress APC's re-run Primary election and now the party’s flag bearer for the scheduled February 26, 2022 Bye-Election.
The rerun election which held at Prestige event centre Jebbu Bassa saw Abbey scoring 809 votes while Kwande scored 74 votes in absentia.
Although, Hon. Suleiman Yahaya Kwande had on his part, issued a press statement stating that, “he was not aware of the re-run election” as he was not notified of same.
He claimed that, based on the decision of the electoral Committee for a re-run after February 01 excercise which he believed he won, Kwande further stated in the press release that, he has written a petition to the National Secretary, Caretaker/Extraordinary Planning Committee (CECPC), Senator John James Apkanudoedehe, PhD.
Kwande also stated that, he was in possession of the acknowledgement copy and equally expecting the decision of the national office of the party regarding the petition.
Recall that, during the primary earlier held on February 01, 2022, both Abbey and Kwande claimed victory as the recorded a tie scoring 344 votes each prompting the Friday re-run election.
On the other hand, The member representing Irigwe/Bassa at the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Agah has emerged as the sole candidate of the opposition Party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the Bassa/Jos north Federal Constituency ahead of the scheduled bye-election for 26 February.
Agah who scored 152 votes, against his closed contestant Honourable
Jonathan Dabo who got 127 votes and Hon. David Richard 1 vote with 1 invalid vote .
Announcing the results of the primary which was held at Lamonde Hotel on Thursday, the returning officer, Hon. Francis Orogu declared that, ”having seen the keen contest between the aspirants as everyone one of them demonstrated the quality of leadership, so we urge the members of the PDP family to ignore any human error that might have occurred in the process of voting,” he said.
He also charged them to work together as one family and accept the results for the party to produce the next member of the House of Representatives for Bassa/Jos North seat.
According to him, Plateau State is among those in Nigeria that are in dire need of the party, saying that by the overwhelming support given by all the parties, the PDP is going to receive more decampees from the opposition parties.
He maintained that the party has taken a crucial stage across the nation asking the security agencies, INEC as worshippers of God to be transparent to let the will of Nigerians decide not what the INEC or security agencies dictate at the polls.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Musa Agah said he appreciates the voters for finding him worthy to be elected as the PDP flagbearer in the forthcoming race.
He pointed out that God Almighty deems its fit to allow the exercise of making him the choice to contest, “so with a laudable gesture, no victor no vanquish because this is an in-house contest.
