PRESS RELEASE
PYC ZONING AND THE DISTURBING TRENDS
14TH AUGUST, 2024
We have become aware of a disturbing trend where individuals of integrity are being labeled as betrayers due to their support for the PYC Chairmanship position being zoned to Bokkos LGA.
This accusation is not only baseless but also hypocritical. When Mr. Solomon Maren contested for the Federal House of Representatives, the Mwaghavul people and others did not accuse those who supported him of betrayers.
In fact, the Mangu people's support for Maren's candidature was seen as a positive development. So, why is it that the same people are now calling some few individuals bad names and being labeled as betrayers for supporting the zoning of the PYC Chairmanship position to Bokkos LGA?
It is essential to note that not everyone in Mangu LGA supported Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang during his contest for the governorship position. There were still many people who did not support him, even within Bokkos LGA.
Why were they not accused of betrayers? This selective application of the term "betrayers" raises questions about the motivations behind these accusations.
History shows that various individuals from different LGAs have held the position of Plateau Youth Council Chairmanship in Central Zone; Mr. Williams Audu from Kanam, Barr. Sam Piwuna from Kanke, Mr. Emma Dashe from Pankshin, and Prof Anpe from Mangu have all held this position.
However, Bokkos LGA is the only LGA in Plateau Central that has not held this position. For the sake of equity and fairness, it is only right that the position be zoned to Bokkos LGA.
Despite this clear reasoning, some individuals from Mangu LGA who support this zoning are being labeled as betrayers. This act of selfishness is unacceptable and goes against the principles of political balancing.
Mangu LGA already has representatives and the governor, so it is crucial to consider zoning the PYC Chairman position to Bokkos LGA for political balancing.
We cannot condone any act of selfishness that will disrupts the political balancing and equation of the Plateau Youth Council or its affiliates. We also cannot allow any region to be marginalized due to some selfish individuals.
We want to categorically state that Barr. Passi,Comrade Cash, and Barr. News, among others, are individuals who respect and value regional political balancing and equation. They have not betrayed the Mwaghavul or Mangu people.
These individuals are known for their integrity, equity, and fairness. We have never known them to be selfish or betrayers.
Their support for zoning the PYC Chairmanship position to Bokkos LGA is a testament to their commitment to fairness and political balancing. We urge others to follow their example and work towards a more equitable political landscape.
