Bassa/Jos North Bye Elections: More Confusion In Apc As Two Aspirants Claim Victory
The All Progressive Congress APC primary election for Bye-Election for Bassa Jos North Federal Constituency has been declared inconclusive with a tie between two Aspirants.
Chairman of Electoral Committee, Rt. Hon. Abu Ajia Saje who announced the results declared that, Hon. Suleimain Kwande and Hon. Abbey Aku got 433 votes each prompting the Electoral Committee to declare the excercise inconclusive.
“ the Committee would consult the headquarters of the party and thereafter, would communicate aspirants on the next line of action” Sake explained.
Meanwhile, as electorates expected keenly the final outcome of the process, Suleiman Yahaya Kwande 's supporters have accused Governor Simon Bako Lalong and the Jos North Council Chairman, Hon. Shehu Bala of using government machinery to intimidate and frustrate the process.
Former aid to Kwande, Adam B. Galla posted on his Facebook social media handle claiming victory for Hon Kwande saying, “Hon. Kwande is supported and loved by the constituents of Bassa/Jos North and therefore they were and are still with him. They gave him their votes and he won”.
Meanwhile, In an interview with Journalists, both aspirants, claimed being victorious. Mr. Joseph Abbey insisted that the election was rigged against him.
“I’m not comfortable with the outcome of the election, something is wrong somewhere. I won overwhelmingly, my agent sent me text that I scored 367, while Suleiman Kwande git 340, I don’t know who tempered with the results,” said Abbey.
Suleiman Kwande on his part said, “ I’m disappointed with the process; I have not heard of an inconclusive delegates election. I know the forces against my candidature,”
It was observed that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC monitored the delegate election.
