*RESIDENTS CRY OUT OVER ABANDONED MANGU-BOKKOS-WAMBA ROAD
The deplorable state of the Mangu-Bokkos-Wamba road has raised serious concerns among residents of Daffo Community in Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State. The road, which was abandoned by the contractor over about 20years ago, is the major link to their locality and has become a death trap.
Chairman of Daffo Mangai Development Association, Mr. Solomon Zaka, has called on the government to take immediate action to resume construction on the road. The community has been relying on communal efforts to rehabilitate the road, but it is no longer sustainable.
The road was awarded in 2003 during President Olusegun Obasanjo's tenure, but the contractor abandoned the project without completing it. The residents are urging the government to recall the contractor and complete the project.
The poor road conditions are causing hardships for residents, making it difficult to access basic amenities and conduct daily activities. The situation worsens during the rainy season, and the residents are appealing to the government to provide palliative care to alleviate their suffering.
Commending leaders for their concerns on the road, they also called Senator Diket Plang and Hon Ishaya Lalu to take their plea to the Federal Government to resume work on the road, and pleaded with Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang for intervention.
