PLATEAU 2023: How LP, Dakum, hired thugs to affirms Dakum, Political desperation taken too far

Online reports have accused, Labour Party LP of Using passersby, street traders, and hired thugs to act as delegates, to affirm Dr Dakum as flag bearer during what could be termed as “highly questionably conducted fresh governorship primary in Plateau State.

The Primary elections exercise was said to have unlike, political stuffs that usually takes time beyond schedule, took place within minutes of rush to announce Professor Patrick Dakum a winner of the exercise.

Although the Independent National Electoral Commission supervised this redo process, but Ambassador Yohana Margif has also accused the Party and  the electoral body of conniving to deny him the right of running for Plateau State governorship by reissuing Dakum a second certificate of return.

For Plateau State chapter of the Labour Party(LP) as the Party to have held primary elections twice to select two different persons as her governorship Candidates ahead of the 2023 general elections for sure is not mindful of the consequences of such act hence an indication that, the party lacks the intention of Winning governorship seat of the State.

An earlier online report which indicated how Labour Party conducted it's primary Elections in the presence of relevant supervisory bodies where it adopted and declared Ambassador Yohana Y.D Margif as it's GOVERNORSHIP Flagbearer accordingly raising alarm on how the party had to file in both Dakum and Margif as candidates at two separate times has continue gaining more back up questions in this regards.

 Another submission has also raised more in-depth view of the controversial political scene as read;

“Earlier we reported about the turmoil in the Labour Party's camp, time they say will always reveal the true identify of a person. Politics is neither a do nor die affair, and the spirit of sportsmanship is the greatest virtue any leader should possess.

After series of complain by Dr Patrick Dakum which eventually birthed into a court case of which he alleged malpractice during the APC gubernatorial primaries, which saw Dr Nentawe Yilwatda emerged winner, the same Dr Dakum has turned to be exactly what he has all this  while accused else of been.

This time it was an unthinkable desperation by use of finances, influence and power to short change the duely elected flag bearer of the Labour Party, Amb. Yohanna Margif.

Firstly, a letter of consent was forged in the name of Amb. Margif, concocting falsely that he has voluntarily withdrewn from the race under the platform of Labour Party.

Secondly, after informing the public of a duly and proper primary election and presenting a winner same Labour Party leadership caucus on the Plateau has reverted to cancel and set another date for a kangaroo election.

Thirdly, hours before the said primary election it was confirmed that the duely elected flag bearer was arrested and detained and was intentionally excused from partaking or seen anywhere near the venue of primary elections.

The staged primary election took place at Tudun Wada, Jos North, in a hotel known as Ken Palace were Dr. Patrick Dakum was affirmed as the new Labour party Flag bearer, after dubious and unconstitutional means.

On the contrary Amb. Chief Margif has issued an advance statement prior to the alleged primary election through his lawyers of an impending plan to forcefully take the ticket from him. Part of the statement read "I AM NOT DEATH" which he said was one of the only reasons another re-run may be carried out or his name replaced.

findings also revealed that the party officials were not happy with the candidature of Amb Margif, after he scammed them with promises of cash and gifts prior to the primaries and after winning refused to oblige. One of the officials even said, "he promised our State Chairlady a car and a house which was all scam."

Reporting from the venue of the primaries, it was gathered that it was a low key event that saw what seem to be a shady arrangement, confirmations made by this platform revealed that hired delegates were paid N10,000 each.

further investigations revealed that some got N5,000 each after sharing the proceeds with official and party bigwigs who invited them 50/50, by remitting N5 000 as kickbacks.

Among the many hired people who stood as delegates were traders who sold around Ken Palace and around Hill station junction, passersby, and normal artisans as well as residents around Tudun wada.

Journalist were also not invited into the opaque primary election venue.

Questions arising;

1. Does the skemish primaries confirm the lack of structure of Labour Party?

2. What will happened if chief Margif is out of detention?

3. Does Dr Dakum have the constituetional right to contest same position twice under the new electoral act?

4. Is Dr Dakum going to be in litigation on two fronts prior to the general elections?

This and many more will be revealed in the coming weeks”

“Unnder which law is the party excercisng the power to disqualify a candidate who emerged as a result of primary election monitored by INEC, submitted to INEC by the same party, acknowledge by INEC and released by INEC as the name qualify as candidates for the part?

All other allegations listed above still remain allegation until proven by a court of competent jurisdiction. What happened here is that the party has constitute itself as a complainant and the court at the same time.

If the candidate is serious about his mandate then the action of the party against him will not stand. The mistake they did was not disqualifying him before the primaries. As it stands only a court can disqualify him”.

Àmb Yohana Margif on his part has written to
Labour Party claiming the Governorship Candidature in Plateau State, a letter to INEC National Chairman and Labour Party National Chairman through his lawyer AJ Rotimi SAN, over plot to substitute him illegally by some highly classified non registered members of the Labour Party,he accused Dr Patrick Dakum describing him as the mastermind of the fail political coup.

Margif who said, Dr Dakum had approach him to relinquish the ticket to him some months back, which he said, he told him “ I can't do so”,also expressed suprise on why “an educated person such as Dr Dakum will allowed himself to pay 20million naira dated 4th, August 2022 to unknown persons for the purposes of obtaining fake nomination form and to desperately arrange kangaroo primaries aimed at replacing him despite knowing that Àmb Margif contested and won the 4th, June 2022 Labour party Gubernatorial primaries in Plateau State and holds the parties ticket as well as INEC certificate as Candidate”.

Margif also explained, “The only situation that can guarantee my substitution is voluntary withdrawal or dead.
As you can see I'm not dead and have never written any letter intending to withdraw from the race or mandate giving to me by God.

I'll surely overcome the trials,tribulations and pressure associated with Circumstances like this.

I remain the dully and legally nominated Candidate of the Labour Party in Plateau State.”
