Plateau: PDP's Akans blasts Lalong over suspension of Monarch.

Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP has condemn the act of suspension of a Traditional Council stool office holder, (Long Nshar) in Yelwa District of Shendam Local Government Areas, of the State by Governor Simon Bako Lalong.

In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. JT Akans, the PDP described the act as an “abuse on a constituted traditional stool on the plateau” .

The Statement read;

PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY ( PDP ) PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER 20 / 22 YAKUBU GOWON WAY OPP NTA JOS*

*11TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2022*

*PRESS STATEMENT*

The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has again been drawn to an abuse on a  constituted traditional stool on the plateau. This follows an unlawful, indiscriminate and an unpopular suspension of the  *of long Nshar Yelwa Shendam* by Lalongs government  for his stance in defence of the heritage of his people .To our greatest dismay the government has alleged the rulers position to be lack of respect to the Governor.

The  Pdp and the generality of plateau people vehemently condemn this tyrannic behaviour and gross administrative rascality from Governor Simon Bako Lalong. Lalong must note that our traditional stools are revered institutions, recognised and respected by subjects irrespective of socio- economic or political status. These ancestral stools have been in existence and have  been well respected for ages and it can't be ridiculed now by any over zealous  individual.  As a responsible party on the plateau, we respect and value our heritage.  Unfortunately the much esteemed heritage appears to be losing its glory  in the hands/sight of the present administration. This incessant and callous act of suspension is quite demystifying and will painfilly give room for future encroachment on the  heritage and traditional values of our people.
Any sane person will know that this unjust suspension  is unhealthy to the State in view of the position our traditional rulers hold as the middlemen between citizens and the government and the efforts they make in sustaining the fragile peace   being experienced.

 We therefore call on Governor Simon Bako Lalong to stop politicising our traditional institutions  because this latest trend of deposing those that share different views  and objectively criticise him or  support or defend their heritage is a big threat to the wellbeing of plateau people. We rise to say no to dictatorship and this must stop .

Signed.
