In a bold move to restore order and protect citizens, Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area, effective immediately. This decisive action comes after unscrupulous individuals exploited nationwide protests to wreak havoc on innocent citizens, looting shops and restaurants, and leaving a trail of destruction.

In a statement released by Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, the governor took this decision after reviewing the actions of the perpetrators and consulting with state security agencies.

According  to the statement, " The curfew is in the best interest of all citizens".

The statement further urged everyone to comply fully to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.

The imposed a 24-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area, is effective immediately. This decisive action comes after unscrupulous individuals exploited nationwide protests to wreak havoc on innocent citizens, looting shops and restaurants, and leaving a trail of destruction.

The curfew, which takes effect from 12 midnight on Sunday, August 4, 2024, aims at preventing further chaos and ensure public safety.

Governor Mutfwang, in consultation with state security agencies, has also directed security personnel to enforce the curfew strictly, warning those planning to unleash further terror to desist or face severe consequences

The governor's swift response to the crisis has been praised by citizens, who have commended his commitment to maintaining peace and order.

The curfew is seen as a necessary measure to prevent the spread of violence and protect the lives and properties of residents.

Governor Mutfwang has also expressed gratitude to the citizens, clergy, and imams for their support and cooperation during the nationwide protest. He urged everyone to continue upholding the culture of peace, saying, "The peaceful conduct of our people before, during, and after the nationwide protest is commendable. I urge everyone to continue to uphold this culture of peace as we work together to build a united and progressive Plateau."

Government so assured citizens that the curfew will be strictly enforced, and anyone found violating it will face the full wrath of the law. The government has also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

As the curfew takes effect, residents of Jos North Local Government Area are advised to stay indoors and avoid any unnecessary movements. The government's decisive action is seen as a strong message to those who seek to disrupt the peace and stability of the state.
