Women under the aegis of Ngerian League of Women Voters NILOWV, Plateau State branch, have said, their votes and support will later be declared for political Party who is women friendly.

Interacting with Plateau Women during her visit on the State at City Lodge Hotel in the cold city of Jos, the PLATEAU State Capital, Nigeria.

Dame ESTHER UDUEHI

President and Founder of NILOWV, Rt. Hon. Dame ESTHER UDUEHI described Nigeria ideal workability like that of human creation which were created, a man and a woman.

She lamented situation where Nigeria operates like, the two functional eyes in a human being which empowering only a single one eye, means one will be left with only one eye to see instead of two. “Do not abuse the support of women in this Country and Plateau State, you won’t get things working right”.

Younger woman former LGA Councillors, stakeholders, among others.

“All of you should work together as sisters, let’s change the narrative of Women not loving themselves”. Dame UDUEHI advised Plateau Women.

“NILOWV has a platform for every Women who are voters in Plateau State, and I call on you all, to ensure you vote for women friendly candidates in the forthcoming general elections”.

“How do you know that a candidate is friendly to women? , From the number of women their political Party include as flag bearers, Campaign Councils, elected and appointed political offices and the party structure itself”.

“You can also access candidates level of involvement in solving women’s plight and activities”.

“If you don’t say I am, no body will ever say, you are”.The League national President explained.

Earlier during her welcome remarks, State Chairperson of NILOWV, Hon. Lynda Barau described the NILOWV National President as a rare gem who lives all her life working for women.

Barau challenged younger women to emulate the passionate quality of women development foresight of Dame, UDUEHI.

“Plateau NILOWV heartily appreciate and acknowledged the Minister for Women affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen’s networking capacity. NILOWV came to Plateau State because of her, the younger Women should not give up, keep moving forward one day, you will get there”

Some of the Plateau Women voters who spoke amongst others are, Plateau State PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate running mate, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo and Professor Patricia Lar both apprauded the innitiative of Dame UDUEHI for founding NILOWV.

They Pledged to continue working hand in hand with Plateau Women for the actualization of NILOWV Vision. 

Plateau Women from all Fields of life endeavors were all there including the political class been represented by Hon. Esther Dusu who is currently the only serving female legislator in the State Assembly.

A minute silence was also observed in the honour of Late Ngo Naomi Jugu and other members who passed on.

The league was founded as earlier on mentioned by Dame ESTHER UDUEHI on her return from a World Conference on Women, 4-15 September 1995, Beijing, China as NILOWV and officially registered in 1998.

NILOWV is a voluntary, non sectarian, non profit association with the sole aims of advocating for opportunities for women to take roles in governance and public space.

So far, the Nigerian League of Women Voters has helps the participation of women in all works of life through providing education and empowerment for women and has helped with the empowerment of some Nigerian women over the years.
