WOMEN INCLUSIVENESS: PDP National Woman Leader calls for nomination of Women as VP & Dpty Governorship Candidates.

WOMEN INCLUSIVENESS: PDP National Woman Leader calls for nomination of Women as VP & Dpty Governorship Candidates.

In her quest to ensure a Win Win situation for both women and Men in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Woman Leader of the Party,  Professor Stella  Effah-Attoe has called for nomination of Women as Vice Presidential and Deputy Governorship Candidates in the forthcoming 2023 general Elections.

In a press statement sogned by Professor Stella Effah-Attoe, National Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party said, “Now that the Primaries have come and gone, it has become very glaring, that Women have been grossly left behind again in terms of Inclusiveness in the emergence of our Party’s Candidates, at ALL levels, for the 2023 General Elections ”

Reviewing and Re-assing the journey so far, for Women in the Party, the woman Leader pointed that, Patriarchal nature of the Society, it could be noticed by widespread complaints and agitation which characterized the party's electoral processes.

The statement read;

“WOMEN INCLUSIVENESS AS PRIORITY FOR THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

BY PROFESSOR STELLA EFFAH-ATTOE, PDP NATIONAL WOMAN LEADER.

"FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL CRITICAL STAKEHOLDERS AND ORGANS OF OUR BELOVED PARTY."

I wish to once again, Congratulate our Great Party for the Successful Conduct and Completion of Party Primaries across the Country.

Now that the Primaries have come and gone, it has become very glaring, that Women have been grossly left behind again in terms of Inclusiveness in the emergence of our Party’s Candidates, at ALL levels, for the 2023 General Elections.

This is therefore, an oppotuned time to Review and Re-assess the journey so far, for Women in our Great Party as it could be noticed by widespread complaints and agitation.

As a result of the Patriarchal nature of our Society, the 35% Affirmative Action appears very far away from being achieved in the just concluded Primaries. In the light of this undesirable, and morale-dampening situation, we have to take some deliberate steps to carry Women along, as it is the trajectory for the modern day growth and development of countries, which should not exclude  Nigeria, and which example should be led by this Party.

In another couple of days from now, the names of the Vice Presidential and Deputy Governorship Candidates will be announced. It is only right, fair and expedient that strategic steps are taken to advance Women Inclusiveness through their nomination as Deputies to our Presidential and Governorship Candidates.

In the USA, the Kamala Harris Positive Effect on the Joe Biden Democratic Political success is still fresh in our memories. The same has to be replicated here and now as it will brighten our chances of winning elections across board.

The nomination of Women as Vice Presidential and Deputy Governorship Candidates will be a Win Win situation for our Party and will put to rest the question of the Electability of Women to Political Offices. If we do this, we would also reduce the dangerous wave of money politics in our country which is usually to the disadvantage and detriment of Women.

Finally, I do appreciate a few States that had shown some gestures in the current  exercise. I therefore recommend that our Party and the Executives should look from within the array of Women in the Party and present them for Pick in their Merits to serve as Vice Presidential Candidate, Deputy Governorship Candidates and at the appropriate times Chairpersons/Vice Chairpersons of Local Government Councils.

Signed
Professor Stella Effah-Attoe,
National Woman Leader, Peoples Democratic Party.”
